ARTeries by Stina

Raised by a most loving family who always supported her creative ventures. Stina began her clothes making ventures at an early age. Her live-in grandmother would bring home 60's and 70's styled formal dresses that she would recreate for her sisters and girlfriends. They would become the costumes for play and performance of  music videos and reenacted musicals. 

Stina graduated with a BFA in Sculpture and Fibers from the Indiana University of PA in 1999. Earlier that year she traveled to Ljubljana, Slovenia and studied as the first American undergraduate student at the Fine Arts Academy. After her final exhibition, she traveled through Europe and Eastern Europe to visit many of the text book painting and sculptures she had studied for the previous four years in Arts School. While in school she began mending college friends clothes as "Bahama Mama", doing alterations, and designing her first clothing.

After graduation she  moved to Baltimore, MD and began teaching kids and adults , instructing them in the Fine Arts. Working with a diverse range of ages, talents, and skill levels, "l Learned how to encourage and help students realize their artistic goals, all the while  I have been sewing and teaching myself how to be a Renegade Seamstess.

Baltimore to Asheville in 2001 by way of recommendations from close friends. Asheville finally came to be the home of Stina in 2003 after a 2 year amazing journey via Mexico that brought her to motherhood.  Stina became a part of the arts community, exhibiting sculptures locally, and teaching art classes through after school arts programs, and with Open Hearts Arts Center. She opened her first artist studio in the stairwell studio of Phil Mechanic Studios of the Rivers Arts where ARTeries by Stina started to take flight. She expanded her studio upstairs in 2008 and joined the River Arts District RAD Association and started teaching sewing classes and Fashion design workshops.

In August of 2010, ARTeries by Stina moved to the Wedge Studios and opened The Fashion Sewing Studio & Boutique with her partner in crimes of fashion, Kristina Benshoff.

Stina's first Fashion show was as a model of Liz White's Wedding Dress for Make Me's Transformation show at the Asheville Arts Center.
